The decor is dated, and looks like it's a 1980s small town fish & chippie. ..which it is. Except Milton is not so small anymore!
But the place delivers where it counts, on the plate. The fries are chip truck quality, and the batter is perfectly crispy and golden. I had the halibut, a nice firm square cut piece that was filling and delicious. My companion had cod which was flaky and flavourful.
Marks off for the lazy condiments. A bottle of lemon juice is no substitute for freshly sliced lemon. Likewise for tartar sauce, which comes courtesy of a small plastic packet.
This is basic fish and chips but for the quality it's overpriced. -

It was TERRIBLE!!!! First off, the restaurant was filthy. There were at least 5 tables not cleared (the place was not busy at all), and even the cleared tables were not wiped. Husband said bathroom was disgusting also.
So we decided to ask for our order to go instead. We ordered 2 orders of haddock and chips and it was all crammed into one tiny container leading to everything becoming soggy, in the short trip from restaurant to home. The fish was almost non-existent inside the coating (about 3oz of fish between both pieces) , and was completely dried out. It was completely gross and a complete waste of money.
Now I know people use the excuse of different staff, yadda yadda, but it looks like a family run place..mother, father and a few kids behind the counter.
My husband says all the time, "You should check Yelp"...I don't check it. I like to be able to use the recommendations from the people of Milton. However, I'll say something I rarely every say...my husband was right...(but don't tell him I said that). -

I have tried the other of Milton's F&C places several times each and this one is my last choice. We had cod and it was very soft maybe even mushy. One diner remarked that the fish smelled like sweet potato possibly meaning the oil was old or shared with french fries. The batter was light golden color and crispy but a bit oily, the fries were soft and well done, no complaints very good. As others have mentioned the place still has its aged decor with a dark brown dirt path in the rug. When I went a 6:30 today there was nobody there but one customer came in just as we were leaving.
